Be part of the Solution: Whether you are a consumer, family member, you work in the field, or are a concerned citizen, your tax deductible contribution goes directly toward reducing the impact of substance abuse in our community.
Advocacy: Important decisions are made almost every day in Atlanta that directly impact the field. The Georgia Council works year round with legislators, the Department of Human Resources, the Department of Community Health, the Department of Corrections, and others to shape policy and budget before it is set. You will also receive timely updates during the legislative session. Our annual Legislative Event is a "not-to-miss' terrific day!
Training and Continuing Education: The Georgia Council, in cooperation with the GA Addiction Counselors Association, The Prevention Credentialing Consortium of Georgia, DHR, the criminal justice community, and others, offers a wide range of opportunities to meet your on-the-job needs. Our trainings are customized to enhance your personal and professional growth. We do this through regional trainings, conferences and seminars critical to your need to stay up-to-date. Members get discounts too!
Information Highway: As a member, you'll be on our communication track with newsletters, alerts, and information about opportunities statewide.
Washington Review: Agency members will receive updates and alerts from our staff in Washington as to how Congress and the Administration are affecting the field through policy and budget.
Networking: Sometimes "it's not what you know, but who you know." As a member you'll have many opportunities to meet your colleagues. Networking provides you with new ideas and an expanded circle of valuable contacts.
Association of Substance Abuse Professionals: Members network with each other and address provider issues at ASAP meetings. They also serve in an advisory role to the Board of Directors keeping them informed and focused on what is going on at the service delivery level.
Career Connections: Our job bank is designed to address the growing decline of available prevention and addiction professionals. Direct recruiting and cataloging provide CEO's with a starting place to look for that perfect match.
Things will happen when people who care, come together to make a difference for the people they serve! It's the right thing to do.
